How to find La Masia d’Els Plans

Masia d’Els Plans is located in the foothills of the Catalan Pyrenees, about 60 miles from the French border and 75 miles north of Barcelona. The closest town of size is Olot, 10 miles away.

You’ll reach the house taking a curvy but well paved road, 8 miles long, that connects the villages of Sant Privat d’en Bas and Vidrà.
 
 

Directions from Olot:

Follow country road C-63 to the village of Les Preses, where you’ll have to turn right at the first traffic light signposting “Sant Privat d’en Bas”. When reaching the first houses of the hamlet turn right at the sign to “Vidrà”, pass the football field and follow the same road 8 miles up to La Masia d’Els Plans. It may well take 20 minutes or more to climb the winding road till you reach the house at 4,000 feet above sea level.
 
 

Directions from Barcelona:

Take motorway A-7 north, after a few miles switch to motorway C-17 in direction to Vic and Ripoll. Some miles north of Vic, follow indications to Olot on road C-37. Some 12 miles further you’ll find a roundabout where you turn left, following the signs to Olot and Les Preses. In the next village called Les Preses turn left at the third traffic light, signposted Sant Privat d’en Bas. When reaching the first houses of the hamlet turn right at the sign to “Vidrà”, pass the football field and follow the same road 8 miles up to La Masia d’Els Plans. It may well take 20 minutes or more to climb the winding road till you reach the house at 4,000 feet above sea level.
